The Coach of the Super Eagle of Nigeria, Rohr while speaking
on Thursday in Uyo made it clear that the match against the Zambian side in the
2018 World Cup Qualifier will be a tough one because it a decisive match for
the both teams. He said “They have a team with lots of young people, who are
quick strikers”. But the style of play with Cameroon is a reference point for
us.” It would be recalled that the Eagles defeated the Indomitable Lions of
Cameroon by 4-0 in September 1, in Uyo. The Super Eagles Coach clearly states
that it will be a difficult one as against the Cameroonian side. He also said
the Chipolopolo team had changed since the first encounter with the Super
Eagles in Ndola about a year ago in the Russia 2018 Qualifiers which ended 2-1
in favour of Nigeria.
He said ““Zambia’s team a year ago is not the same
one with what we have now. They have changed a lot, and they have many young
players who have come in from the under-20 team. “So, we have a different team
we are going to play against now. He said his team were determined to win the match
despite toping the table with 10 poinst, which is 3 point away from the
Chipolopolo which happens to be the second on the table with 7 points. “We have
to win. If we have a draw, it will not be enough for us to go through. We have
to win this game. We have trained very well,” Rohr said. He said his team was
in high spirits with no injured player among the 23 in camp, while his choice
of players would be based on physical fitness, mental strength and calmness.
The Super Eagle skipper, Mikel Obi stated that his team
are motivated for the match. “It is a game we want to win, and hopefully we
will win. We are not going to take this game lightly,” Mikel said.
The Turkish midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi on Wednesday
said the players are ready for the match.
